The story of the Liptones begun as a 2-piece in 1997 when singer/guitarist Mo and bassist Mårten started fooling around mixing ska and punk, ending up with a couple of cool tunes they thought deserved to be heard outside of the garage. So the hunt began trying to find the right musicians to complete the vision of a full blown ska band.

While the search for more members continued the band began playing live shows and soon earned the reputation of being on hell of an entertaining act. In the year 2000 the band was complete and was soon offered a recording deal with Stockholm based ska/oi/punk label AMTY records.
Debut album “the latest news” was released in 2002 and the ep “espandrillos” in 2003, followed by extensive touring around Sweden and Europe and a split 7” with the Bustups, which was released in 2004.

The following year the band started writing and recording for their second full length album. Having been known mostly as an energetic, fast-playing party-ska band with a punky edge, the band sought to explore other areas within and outside the genre. As a result the more bombastic, early 80´s 2-tone sounding “In English” was released in 2006.

This year has so far seen the recruitment of the new drummer Bobban and more gigs to play. If you haven’t caught ém yet… make sure you do! CHEERS!!
